Plant nutrition is concerned with the chemical elements and compounds that are necessary for the growth and metabolism of plants. In its absence, the plant is unable to complete its normal life cycle.

 

A balanced crop nutrition program will not stop increasing yield after seed planting. The nutritional status of plants affects the potential infection of diseases to a great extent by affecting the growth and chemical composition of tissues. When there is the best nutritional supply, the risk of infection is the lowest.


Protecting plants from disease is a key function of protecting yields. It requires a comprehensive nutritional planning method to put excess bushels into the dustbin. Studies have shown that micronutrients, including zinc (Zn), can have a great impact at the end of the year.


Current research shows that boron (B), manganese (Mn) and calcium (Ca) can significantly inhibit plant disease invasion by stabilizing and maintaining the structural integrity and rigidity of cell wall. In addition, in the absence of magnesium (Mg) and potassium (K), plants are more vulnerable to airborne pathogens because of the increase of soluble sugars and amino acids in leaf tissue. Zinc plays a key role in plant disease resistance and should be considered as a preventive measure in disease management plans. Adequate plant nutrition can improve the tolerance of plants to drought and head stress, which in turn may help plants resist the invasion of Aspergillus, which will produce aflatoxin and destroy the value of crops.
